Bare Glass Candle Vessels (Container-Only)
Engineered for candle brands and contract fillers, our rigid glass vessels are supplied strictly bare-without wax, wicks, lids, or accessories. Produced via precision press-and-blow molding, each vessel features a trimmed, fire-polished rim and is rated as a self-standing container for poured wax or gel fills.
Annealing is critical to vessel integrity: unreleased stress from improper cooling leads to delayed thermal cracking long after the pour. Through continuous lehr processing, we eliminate residual internal stress before shipment, ensuring high thermal resistance during line filling and stable long-term display.

Capacity is measured to the intended fill line, not to the rim. The fill line sits 8–12 mm below the rim, leaving headroom for a wick assembly and preventing wax overflow during the melt pool stage.

Treat these as starting figures. Gel and coconut-blend waxes run at different densities, and a heavy fragrance load changes the figure slightly. We confirm the exact fill line against your specific wax before sampling, because a vessel that is 10 g short of the label claim is a compliance problem in several markets.
Rim and Base Finish
- Rim & Base Construction The vessel rim features a fire-polished, smooth single-radius edge-completely free of sharp lips or burrs-providing a clean contact surface for wick-centering tools and press-fit lids. At the bottom, a flat-ground base with a shallow punt guarantees stability, while remaining unfrosted on decorated models to ensure bottom labels and molded marks stay clearly legible.
- Precision Wall Tolerances Wall thickness is strictly maintained within ±0.4 mm of nominal across the entire vessel height. This dimensional tolerance prevents localized hot spots and ensures a predictable melt-pool behavior during burn, delivering the precise volumetric consistency contract fillers demand.
Available Glass Materials
Two glass types cover the whole range. Selection depends on the pour temperature of the candle and the merchandising position of the product.

Soda-Lime Glass (SL-01) - The Default Choice
Soda-lime is the industry workhorse for candle vessels: the best balance of clarity, weight and cost, and the material behind almost all of the shapes in our standard tooling.
- Forming: press-and-blow, which gives good dimensional control on the rim and base.
- Thickness range: 3.0 – 4.5 mm. Thicker wall is available on request for a heavier hand-feel, up to 6.0 mm on straight-sided profiles.
- Colour: essentially clear. On thick sections a very faint green edge appears, which is normal for soda-lime and is not a defect.
- Thermal limit: roughly 40 – 60 °C differential.
Borosilicate Glass (BS-03) - High-Temperature and Premium
Borosilicate carries a much lower coefficient of thermal expansion, which makes it far more forgiving of rapid temperature change and localised heat.
- Thermal limit: roughly 100 – 120 °C differential, roughly double soda-lime. This suits hot-pour waxes, gel candles and any process where the melt is poured hot into a cold cup.
- Clarity: near colourless across the full wall thickness, with no green edge. The visually cleanest option, and it photographs noticeably better in e-commerce imagery.
- Cost and MOQ: roughly 35 – 60 % higher unit cost than soda-lime at the same size. Tooling and MOQ rules are unchanged.
- Weight: a borosilicate cup of the same capacity is 8 – 12 % lighter, since a thinner wall achieves the same strength.
- Recommendation: specify SL-01 for standard soy and paraffin programmes; step up to BS-03 where the pour is hot, the candle is refillable, or the shelf position is premium.
Thermal Shock Limits & Safe Operating Guidelines
Thermal shock resistance is measured strictly as a temperature differential (ΔT)-the gap between the wax pour temperature and the vessel temperature at filling. For example, pouring 80°C wax into a 20°C vessel creates a ΔT of 60°C. Standard soy and paraffin pours (60°C - 80°C) into room-temperature soda-lime glass push directly against its maximum safe limit.
To maintain a reliable safety margin and eliminate hot-pour fractures on your line, implement these three standard operating practices:
- Pre-heat Vessels: Holding vessels at 30°C - 40°C prior to fill reduces ΔT by roughly half, making it the most cost-effective line safeguard.
- Angled Discharge: Direct wax down the vessel inner wall rather than pooling directly onto the base center to avoid localized thermal stress.
- Avoid Cold Stocks: Vessels brought directly from cold winter storage cause latent stress cracks that manifest hours after setting. Allow cold inventory to equilibrate to ambient temperature before filling.
Note: If your production line cannot ensure these process controls, specify our borosilicate range (BS-03) for higher thermal margin.
Recycled and Regenerated Glass
Recycled glass cullet can be blended into the soda-lime batch on request, typically at 30 – 60 % post-consumer content.

Recycled glass is a strong fit for eco-positioned brands. Because the tint varies batch to batch, we recommend confirming a colour standard before tooling is cut.

Colour Body Glass
For opaque effects, the glass can be coloured in the batch rather than sprayed afterwards. This produces a permanent, chip-resistant colour that will not rub off.

Available Surface Decoration
Four decoration families cover the range. All four are applied to the exterior wall only; the interior is always left bare so that nothing interferes with the wax, the fragrance or the flame.

- Hot-Stamp & Heat-Transfer Metallic Band Metallic foil is transferred under heat and pressure to deliver a mirror-bright finish with crisp edge definition (±0.5 mm tolerance). Available in glossy or matte finishes across gold, champagne gold, rose gold, silver, and copper. Heights range from 3 mm to full-body coverage in 1 mm increments. The foil layer resists flaking during handling and offers a striking premium contrast when paired with a frosted body. Care: Wipe clean with a soft damp cloth; avoid scrubbing or soaking.
- Frosted Sandblast A fine mechanical abrasive treatment that converts clear glass into a smooth satin-matte finish with soft light diffusion. Available in full-body or selective coverage, with a clear rim and base ring being the most popular option for lid fit and label visibility. The frost reduces flame hotspots to create an even, glowing wall when lit. Because it alters the glass surface directly rather than using a coating, it will not peel, fade, or wash off, and is dishwasher safe.
- Pearlescent Spray An exterior pearlescent lacquer that provides an iridescent, color-shifting shimmer under changing light angles (available in pearl white, pink, gold, and blue-violet). Offered in full-body or gradient spray styles with semi-transparent or opaque coverage. Spraying pearl over a light frosted base creates the deepest, most uniform shimmer. Care: Wipe clean only; not suitable for scrubbing or prolonged soaking.
- Silk-Screen Color Band Cured inks screen-printed directly onto the glass with Pantone color matching and tight multi-pass registration (±0.3 mm). Configurable as single or multiple rings, or full-body blocks, with glossy, matte, or metallic inks. The ink is heat-cured and bonded to the glass surface, making it durable and residential dishwasher safe. Multi-process combinations, such as pairing a printed ring with a hot-stamped foil band, are available upon request.

What the MOQ covers
The 20,000-piece minimum reflects the setup economics of each step: mould amortisation on a new body shape or capacity where tooling does not already exist; print and foil plate setup for silk-screen, hot-stamp or heat-transfer; sandblast masking for a selective frost pattern; and colour matching for body-coloured glass and Pantone-matched ink.
Where a design reuses existing tooling and an existing decoration plate, the minimum can in some cases be reviewed. Discuss your target with the sales team before assuming a lower volume is possible - and equally, before assuming 20,000 is unavoidable.

Export Packaging Specifications
- Standard Export Packing Vessels are individually separated by inner grid dividers to prevent rim-to-body contact, then packed into heavy-duty 5-layer corrugated master cartons (typically 48–96 pcs per carton depending on vessel size and wall thickness; exact packing counts are confirmed upon order). Cartons are palletized to standard export sizes or custom buyer specifications.
- Custom Packaging Options Custom retail-ready packaging-including individual gift boxes, high-density foam inserts, or custom presentation packs-is available upon request for an additional fee.

Annealing |
Residual stress checked under polarized light per batch |
- Quality Inspection & AQL All production batches are subject to AQL 2.5 inspection for cosmetic and dimensional compliance. Batch-specific full inspection reports are issued upon request.
- Annealing & In-Use Safety Because residual stress causes delayed thermal cracking on filling lines or store shelves, every production batch undergoes a strict, temperature-controlled annealing schedule with stress testing performed prior to release.
- Safety & Compliance Statement Our vessels are manufactured from inert, non-combustible glass engineered to safely hold wax loads up to the designated fill line. Please note that candle safety certification-including flame height, wick performance, burn behavior, and fire-safety labeling-depends entirely on the filler's wax formulation and wick selection. If your target market requires specific regulatory documentation, contact us with your requirements for confirmation.
Lids and Accessories
Separate Supply Notice Lids are not included as standard; vessels ship bare without lids or closures. Compatible metal or glass lids are available as a separate line item upon request. To ensure a precise fit, please provide your lid technical drawings to confirm compatibility with the chosen vessel's rim diameter.
Key Technical Considerations
- Rim Decoration Clearance: Confirm that any top-edge decoration (such as a metallic rim band) maintains the required clearance along the sealing area.
- Functional Requirements: Specify whether your product requires a simple dust cover for retail display or a fitted, airtight seal for fragrance retention, as these require different component designs and rim tolerances.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this a finished candle or an empty container?
A: An empty container only. The vessel is supplied bare - no lid, no wax, no wick, no fragrance. The buyer or the buyer's contract filler completes the candle. This is the standard supply model for candle brands that want control over their own wax formulation and scent.
Q: Which glass should I choose for a standard soy candle?
A: Soda-lime SL-01. Soy wax is normally poured at 60 – 80 °C. Read the thermal limit as a differential, not as a pouring temperature: an 80 °C pour into a 20 °C cup is a ΔT of 60 °C, which is the top of what SL-01 tolerates. It works - that is standard industry practice - but it works at the edge, so warm the cups to 30 – 40 °C before pouring and pour onto the wall rather than onto the base. There is no need to pay for borosilicate unless your process cannot do that, or the positioning calls for it.
Q: When do I actually need borosilicate?
A: Three cases: hot-pour wax above 80 °C, gel candles where the gel is set hot, and refillable candles where the cup goes through repeated melt-and-refill cycles. Premium shelf position is a fourth, commercial rather than technical, reason - BS-03 is near colourless and photographs better.
Q: Will the glass show a green tint?
A: On thick soda-lime sections a faint green edge is visible under certain light. It is inherent to the material and is not a defect. If a completely neutral colour is essential, specify borosilicate BS-03 or a body-coloured glass.
Q: I sell a 200 g candle. Which vessel do I need?
A: The 240 ml straight-sided or the 220 ml curved vessel, at roughly 0.9 g/ml wax density. Section H2-3 gives the full conversion, with the caveat that gel and coconut blends run at different densities. Send us your wax and fragrance load and we will confirm the exact fill line before sampling - a vessel 10 g short of your label claim is a compliance problem in several markets.
Q: Can I get a vessel that holds 400 g of wax?
A: Not from stock tooling. The largest stock capacity in this range is 320 ml, which is roughly 285 g of wax. Loads up to 400 g are achievable on a custom body shape - that is a tooling conversation with its own mould cost, MOQ and lead time.
Q: Is the glass food-contact approved?
A: The bare glass is chemically inert and non-porous. However, this product is sold as a candle container, not as tableware, and we do not issue a food-contact certificate for it. If you require food-contact documentation for a different application, raise it separately, as it changes the material and testing route.
Q: Can the vessel be refilled and reused?
A: Yes, provided the wax is removed without thermal shock - do not pour cold water into a hot cup. Frosted and silk-screened vessels survive repeated cleaning better than foiled or sprayed ones.
Q: What is the fill line and how much headroom is left?
A: The fill line sits 8 – 12 mm below the rim, and all capacity figures in this specification are measured to the fill line rather than to the rim. The headroom houses the wick assembly and accommodates the melt pool without overflow.
Q: Can I combine two decorations on one vessel?
A: Yes, but not all pairs work well and any combination adds a process pass. The most successful pairings are a hot-stamp band over a frosted body, or a silk-screen ring on a frosted body. Body-coloured glass should not be combined with print or spray.
Q: Which decorations can go in a dishwasher?
A: Frost and cured silk-screen ink are dishwasher safe. Hot-stamp foil and pearlescent spray are surface layers and should be wiped clean only. If the end consumer will wash the vessel for reuse, frost and silk-screen are the safer specification.
Q: How exact is the colour match?
A: Ink and spray colours are matched to a Pantone reference at sampling. Because colour shifts when printed on clear, frosted or coloured glass, we issue a physical decorated sample for approval. The approved sample - not a screen or a digital file - becomes the colour standard for production.
Q: Can I print a logo, a text line or an image?
A: Yes. Single-colour logos and text lines are the most economical. Multi-colour and fine-detail artwork is possible with silk-screen, but line width below 0.3 mm and type below 5 pt will not reproduce cleanly. Send vector artwork for review before tooling is committed.
Q: Does frosting hide the candle inside?
A: It diffuses rather than hides. A light frost still shows wax colour and glow; a deep satin frost softens the contents considerably. If wax colour is a selling point, use a light frost or the clear-ring version.
Q: Can the decoration be placed anywhere on the body?
A: Yes, within the limitations of the printing method - rim, mid-body and base are all printable. Note that a base decoration is partly hidden once the candle sits on a surface, and rim decoration must clear the sealing surface if a lid is to be fitted.
Q: Will the decoration fade or wash off over time?
A: Frost is a mechanical change to the glass and cannot fade. Cured silk-screen ink is durable. Foil and pearl spray are surface layers: they hold up to normal handling but degrade if scrubbed, soaked or exposed to abrasive cleaning agents.
Q: How firm is the 20,000-piece minimum?
A: Firm for a new decoration or a new body shape, because the setup cost per process step has to be recovered. Where your design reuses existing tooling and an existing print or foil plate, a lower volume may be reviewed. Ask before assuming either way.
Q: Can I split the 20,000 across colours or sizes?
A: No. The minimum applies per size and per decoration. Two body sizes each need 20,000; two decorations each need 20,000. It is not a pooled figure that can be spread across a mixed basket.
Q: Do I need to pay for tooling?
A: For an existing body shape in our standard range, no. For a new shape or a new capacity, mould cost applies and is quoted separately. Some tooling cost can be amortised into the unit price at higher volumes - discuss with the sales team.
Q: Can I order a sample before committing to the MOQ?
A: Yes. Stock samples are available for existing shapes and standard decorations within 3 – 5 working days. A custom-decorated pre-production sample takes 10 – 15 working days; it is charged, and the cost is typically credited against the bulk order.
Q: How long does it take from order to delivery?
A: Allow 10 – 15 working days for a decorated pre-production sample, then 25 – 35 working days for production of 20,000 – 50,000 pieces once the sample is approved in writing, plus shipping transit. Production lead time starts from written sample approval, not from order placement.
Q: Can you supply lids as well?
A: Lids are not part of this specification. A metal or glass lid can be quoted as a separate line - send the drawing and we will confirm compatibility with the rim diameter of your chosen vessel, and confirm that any rim decoration clears the sealing surface.
Q: What is the breakage rate in transit?
A: Glass is packed with inter-cup dividers and a five-layer corrugated master carton as standard, designed for container freight. Carton quantity is typically 48 – 96 pcs depending on size and wall thickness. Report any damage with photographs at unloading; claims are handled per the agreed Incoterms.
Q: What documentation is provided?
A: A full inspection report per batch, a recycled-content certificate where recycled glass is used, and specification sheets for the selected glass type. Additional certificates can be arranged on request. We do not issue certificates for frameworks that do not govern this product - a candle's fire-safety and burn behaviour are the filler's scope, not the vessel supplier's.
Q: Can I visit the production line or have a third-party inspection carried out?
A: Yes. Factory visits are welcome with advance notice, and third-party inspection at the production site can be arranged. We will coordinate the timing around the decoration pass you want inspected.
